Hi,

I installed Alfresco Mobile on my Android tablet.  It works but it is many times slower than Fresh Docs what I used until now.   Any reason? Settings??

Hello,

The current Android 1.0 version doesn't incorporate any caching mechanism. Informations displayed in the screen are the latest from the repository.
Furthermore Android 1.0 is a read/write application. For each item (document/folder) we check if the user has specific right to do some actions.
In general we do more actions/treatment in client side than a default CMIS browser.

It may explain with other factor like network latency why you may feel Android 1.0 slower than Freshdocs.

But as usual in this circumstance it's the first step and we are going to improve user experience release after release.

So Alfresco Mobile for Android 1.0 is off to a great start. Please keep the comments coming as the team is hard at work on the next version.

For convenience, here's a quick link to the official Alfresco for Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.alfresco.mobile.android.application

For information, here's a link to a list of known issues we're already working on: https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/secure/ReleaseNote.jspa?projectId=10352&version=12806

You can expect regular updates to the app, which is also available as an open source project here: https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-android-app.

If you're inspired by this first version but would like something different, remember that the Alfresco Mobile SDK  for Android is already available here: https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-android-sdk. Alfresco Mobile for Android 1.0 is built on it, lets see what our talented Alfresco Community can do!

Can i ask what Android smartphone you want to install the app on to?

We currently only support ICS, what version of Android are you using?

Another alternative is for you to grab the source code from Github (https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-android-app) and build it yourself (you'll need maven to do so) if you want to run on an emulator, you can also then deploy the app onto your phone yourself.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks gavinc,

Yes, actually I used Gingerbread. Then I saw in https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.alfresco.mobile.android.application, REQUIRES ANDROID:
4.0 and up. Unlucky me Smiley Sad

So I downloaded zip file of https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-android-app. And these are the steps that I haved tried:
I extracted zip file
Import Existing Android Code Into Workspace using adt-bundle-windows
In my Package Explorer, I have one project named HomeScreenActivity
But it has mark x, equals to has many errors (cannot resolve to any type)

May you help me?

Thanks.
