Hi Gopesh,
I am currently trying to do the same, maybe you have more luck than I. But following things helped me change the errormessage (seeming to get me a little further each time)

* execute apply_amps with the same AMP files from the original system
* update to most current 2.9er version first

Also, you can try a complete repository dump from within the administration console (EXPORT)

Hi Norgan,

Thanx for the prompt reply !!

People like you will takealive this type of forum..

By the way,I didn't get you what exactly you talking about.

If you are saying that the back up can be possible for the existing alfresco 2.9B(currrent version i m using) using export command from admin console????

Please do clerify as i m not aware of alfresco admin console any export command.

I do know that u can export the spaces and all that using export which will create AMP files, but this was not the case if your using WCM of alfresco. If any how i get the backup of whole repos as suggested by you,ll solve my problem.

For backup restore of whole alfresco i need backup of whole alf_data folder and the DB backup.you are suggesting diffrently. So please specify if any way i can other than this or some steps.

Thanks,
Gopesh.

I'm also working with Alfresco 2.9B and trying to migrate to 3.0

my Bootstrap is failing when attempting to perform a restore.

Is there something such as a utility for importing content from a previous version? Do I first need to upgrade to the latest version of alfresco(2.9er) before migrating is possible?

What options are there for people wanting to migrate from 2.X to 3.0?

I saw that someone spoke of an admin console? would someone be so kind as to post a reference to said admin console?

(UPDATE: /alfresco/faces/jsp/admin/workflow-console.jsp this is the admin console/command prompt)

Thanks

Ryan

I´ve done a migration from 2.9 to 3 labs stable and things are OK.

More a less what i did is to follow what is recommended in the wiki for an alfresco update:

My running alfresco 2.9 is installed in

/opt/alfresco
data in /opt/alfresco/data
DB alfresco

1) Install a paralell new alfresco3 in:

/opt/afresco3
data in /opt/alfresco3data/data
DB alfresco3

2) Configure alfresco3 and install all options correctly (pdf2swf, soffice, ImageMagick-convert, sharepoint, hand migrate extension files). Look at the logs for errors or missing things

3) Stop tomcat

4) Backup alfresco 2.9 DB and /opt/alfresco/data

5) Restore 2.9 DB in alfresco3 DB

6) Copy /opt/alfresco/data in /opt/alfresco3data/data

7) Restart Tomcat for alfresco3 and look at the logs to see if everything goes OK. The installation does de DB upgrade

Note that this aproach allows to install alfresco3 in paralell to 2.9 and to repeat and tune it (e.g. custom models, hand migrate the extension files…) until is OK.

For me it has worked OK. My migrated alfresco3 is running happily (and my previous 2.9 is still there just in case  ).

I am still having trouble. although I haven't given up just yet, it could be useful to me if I could see the contents of your tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/version.properties

here is mine

Does anyone know where the last stable build of alfresco 2.9 can be found?
