Alfresco LDAP Configuration for Alfresco server on Linux

I have hosted alfresco on a 46 bit linux Centos environment. I have used the default alfresco settings. I am facing a problem with configuring alfresco for ldap authentication.I have a few questions on the same:
1. Is it necessary that the linux machine(Alfresco server) has to be on the windows domain on which ldap i running.
2. I am able to authenticate on a windows(Alfresco server) through ldap and I am using the same settings in linux. Is this OK
3.Is there specific option to enable advance logging for ldap authentication

1. No. The linux box does not need to be in any windows domain.   However it sounds like you may be using a windows ldap server which may  require you to be in a particular domain to connect.
