Alfresco Deployment Time

I have installed Alfresco 4.0.1 Enterprise bundle on CentOS 64 bit / 2048 RAM
The installation is taking 1 hr and after that when I start Alfresco tomcat  it is taking 30 minutes to start completely (I mean Server Startup message appears after 30 minutes).

Are these two times acceptable.? or I can do something to reduce this time.

No.  That's too long.    You are unlikely to be able to run alfresco with so little ram.

I hope you understood 2048 RAM as 2048 MB RAM

If yes, Is 2048 MB RAM less for Alfresco. ?
What is the minimum RAM required for Alfresco?

Double that if you include an O.S.    Alfresco itself needs at least 1GB of unpaged memory.     One symptom of not enough RAM will be slowness as the JVM is swapped in and out.   

You could also have another problem,  however my first suspicion is lack of RAM.

But on the other hand if the installer takes 1 hour then that's not right and is nothing to do with alfresco.   All its doing is copying files.

With 4GB RAM I am able to reduce installation time to 35 min from 1hr and tomcat startup time to 17 min from 30min.

Are these times acceptable now. ?

normal Alfresco startup time is ~60sec.
What's your hardware, free Disk space etc.? is your system virtualized?

yes I am using virtualised system.

I am having an ESX server with following hardware :

- Manufaturer : Dell
- Model: PowerEdge R710
- CPU Cores: 8 CPUs x 1.994 GHz
- Processor : Intel(R) Xenon(R) CPU E5504 @ 2.00GHz

I am using a VM having 10GB free disk space

how many VMs are running on your ESX host?
How much RAM is your host having & what is the sum off all VM RAM configs?

Me too, when I started alfresco it stands at line "INFO: JobAcquisitionThread starting to acquire jobs" very long 30m -> 1h. Anyone know why?
