Alfresco Content.Store expansion

Hi everyone
I have been tasked to look into expansion of alfresco storage. currently entire alfresco is in a single Disk (VM instance) and we noticed the need of expanding it every now & then.

I read that moving the content.store / content.deleted is possible ( i am planning to point it in a NAS via NFS)  though i have few concerns:

1. how difficult it is to move over the current content.store to a new location? given it has been implemented for more than a year and data is massive?
2. is it possible to have two content.store? current virtual disk(old content) + NAS (for new contents)
3. would there be a drastic effect on the performance if we move this contents on a NAS?
4. i read that file permission is an issue r+rw on NFS? authentication issues?

System

CentOS 6.4
Alfresco

Answers:

1) You could move your content store to new location only thing to keep in mind is server instance has to be down while moving it to new location.
2) Yes,You could have two content store(explore content store policies and content store configuration)
3) There is going to be some performence impact for sure but overall effect will depends on many factores.

1. how difficult it is to move over the current content.store to a new location? given it has been implemented for more than a year and data is massive?    -   Its a copy command from your O.S.   There may also be clever ways of doing the copy.    You could also test your backup and restore at the same time.
2. is it possible to have two content.store? current virtual disk(old content) + NAS (for new contents)    Yes,
Another option is the Aggregating Content Store.
3. would there be a drastic effect on the performance if we move this contents on a NAS?   Probably not.   If its a problem then you could use the caching content store.
4. i read that file permission is an issue r+rw on NFS? authentication issues?   Sorry don't understand your question.
