Hi All,
I looking for a open source/freeware portal for my department in my company instead of sharepoint.
May I know if I can use Alfresco community edition 3.4.e as my department intranet in my company.

Is there any restriction to use for this purpose. This will be completely internal company usage. But not for external in any manner.
Can some one help me on this.

Thanks
Rocket.

There are no restrictions on usage - internal or external.

Thanks,
Mike

Thank you MikeH.
we are considering using Alfresco Community 4.d to build the intranet/extranet of a small education no-profit.
Licensing information is of course very important, but I cannot find any information about it on alfresco.com website.

Besides your forum post (which is very usefull!), where can I find the Official statement from the company about  the community license?

I need to present the project to the board and I need to present official info, they wouldnt accept jumping on such project without being sure of the licence.

thank yoU!

Alfresco community is LGPL.    Its at the top of every source file.

Hi Rocket,

As  MikeH said there is no limitation with Alfresco Community edition to use your any requirements. You can use it on even Internet and with any number of users. Only thing you have to consider are going to change source code and release with your products.

Alfresco Community edition is LGPL based and LGPL allows you to use and distribute the open source software with your application without releasing the source code of your application. If you use it in your application then you can still have a closed source proprietary licensed application. But if you modify the LGPL library then you must release your modifications under the LGPL, even though your application can remain closed source.

Thanks
