Alfresco Community 3.4
CentOS with VMware

During testing, when inviting created users to join a Site, users created with a gmail address receive the email invitation but users with another gmail address and a hotmail address do not. I didn't do the install of Alfresco. Email is going out but only to one gmail address.

Very strange.   If you can send to one address, you should be able to send to all.

More details please.
What's your configuration?
Are there any email errors logged in alfresco.log?
Does the user being invited already exist on alfresco prior to the invite?

If you mean the email configuration

mail.host=***.0.0.1
mail.port=25
mail.username=******
mail.password=******

in the alfresco-global.properties file.

No email errors are found in the alfresco.log file.

Invited user already exist.

I was using gmail for some of the testing. I found that an invitation doesn't go to a user with the same email address. So it works if the inviter has a different gmail address than the invitee. But I tried it with the inviter using a gmail address and the invitee has a hotmail address and the invitee doesn't receive the email.

We've had some resolution to the problem. Some of the invitations go to Spam on Gmail. Invitations are also reaching Yahoo accounts. But nothing is getting to Hotmail. I've read that Hotmail has especially tough filters that block some email outright, not even going to Spam. Is there something we can do so Alfresco invitations can go to Hotmail?

No.   That's functionality in hotmail.

Have a look here…  this may solve itself as you gain a "reputation" from not spamming.
