Alfresco broken by distro upgrade

I messed up.  Stupidly allowed the Ubuntu update manager to upgrade me to Lucid Lynx 10.04 without double-checking my backups.  Alfresco isn't working after the distro upgrade and my backups don't include /usr/share

Using alfresco-community 3.2.0-4 installed from the ubuntu repository.

localhost:8080 shows 'It works'

localhost:8080/alfresco shows 'HTTP Status 404'

localhost:8080/share shows 'HTTP Status 500'

Is there any hope for getting Alfresco running again with the user's data intact?

Yes you can recover as long as you still have a working database and the content store folder.

Have you worked out what happened when you upgraded?

I'm guessing that during the upgrade, I must've incorrectly answered some of the questions about overwrite.

Not sure if the database is still working and the content store folder is still there.  Sorry, but we've been using Alfresco for a couple months and I just haven't taken the time to look at it closely.  It would be nice if we can get the user's data back.  Can you point me to some instructions for checking the database and content store - and getting alfresco fixed?

It looks like my content store still exists (see below).

root@listserv:/var/lib/alfresco# ls -l
total 24
drwxr-xr-x 2 tomcat6 tomcat6 4096 2010-04-22 16:40 audit.contentstore
drwxr-xr-x 8 tomcat6 tomcat6 4096 2010-10-20 03:00 backup-lucene-indexes
drwxr-xr-x 3 tomcat6 tomcat6 4096 2010-04-22 16:40 contentstore
drwxr-xr-x 2 tomcat6 tomcat6 4096 2010-04-22 16:40 contentstore.deleted

How do I check on the database?
How do I get Alfresco working again?

It looks like mysql is still inact and the content store still exists.  I wish I knew how to fix whatever I did to break Alfresco.  Can someone tell me what steps to take to get it fixed?

I give up.  Alfresco was fun to play with, but it seems too fragile.  I need something that is easily fixed and needs little maintenance.

Thanks anyway,
Gregg

That's a shame, especially as it seems that your content store and database were intact.

Perhaps it is too late to ask whether there were any errors in your alfresco.log file on startup.

I'd advise any administrator of Alfresco to become familiar with how to back up and restore alfresco before putting it into production.
