Alfresco 4 - some basics

Hi - I recently downloaded Alfresco 4, and I am very impressed with it. But there are some basics I am struggling with, which documentation explains, but I don't seem to have the functionality.

Firstly can anyone explain the concept between a site and a space to me? I understand spaces are containers, almost like root level folders, but is the relationship with a site 1 to 1, 1 to many, many to 1, many to many etc? I haven't quite figured out that concept in my head, and as a consequence don't want to get started as it may all become undone.

Secondly, the ability to add meta data to content and version control in Alfresco Share?
Are these feature available under Alfresco Share?

Thanks

Spaces are just another name for folders. So in Alfresco Share, spaces are what you see in the Document Library.
Now Sites root is in itself a folder, it is just residing hier up in the hierarchy, and not displayed as a folder, but you can technically browse it as a folder. But avoid ding changes to that folder, for example change site Title and Description using 'Edit Site details' dialog.
And to make it clear, everything in Alfresco is a node, just different representaitons (like a document or a folder). Nicely explained here http://www.slideshare.net/JM.Pascal/alfresco-in-few-points-node-tutorial-521030

So yes you can add your own properties, read more here http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Forms and http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Data_Dictionary_Guide
