alfresco 4.2 online edit

Hello, my question is, if it is possible to edit Microsoft Office files online? Is it for free? I have read a lot about it, but unfortunatelly I still dont't know enough.

So far I did:

1. I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 server x64 on VM
2. I have installed Alfresco-4.2.c on my VM with this tutorial: http://docs.alfresco.com/4.2/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.alfresco.enterprise.doc%2Ftasks%2Fsimpleinstall-...
3. I can login to Alfresco (http://localhost:8080/share) and i have uploaded some .doc files to repository. I can see only edit offline button, but not edit online.
4. I use Windows 7 and MO 2010, so i have installed Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306) on my local machine (Windows 7).
5. I have done also on my Windows 7:
Change or create the following registry key and set its value to 2.
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters\BasicAuthLevel" (REG_DWORD)

Change or create the following registry key and set its value to 2:
“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet\BasicAuthLevel” (REG_DWORD)
6. In Ubuntu I have directory: /webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/module/org.alfresco.module.vti/context

I did not change any settings in alfresco config files, everything is on default settings. What should I do to have edit online button? Please help me and thanks in advance.

When online editing is enabled for an HTML or plain text but its not for MS Office.

I have the same problem here with the same installtion steps.  I thought with Mircosoft Share Point Protocol you can edit online?
I also fix the bug in 4.2.c. https://github.com/Pluies/Alfresco-EditOnline4.2.c-fix
There are no warning or error in catalina.out.
Please help me and thanks in advance.

You have to change web-client-config.xml

C:\Alfresco\tomcat\webapps\alfresco\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\web-client-config.xml

Change  http to webdav (<edit-link-type>webdav</edit-link-type>)

You can do the online editing, but for the button to show up the file has to be a M$ office file extension (or a file that can be edited by M$ office.

The other thing is that you have to have a ssl certificate created. I've had nothing but issues with the regular wiki setup. I use apache to handle the ssl connection and it all works just fine. If you search the forums there are a couple of threads that point you in the right direction for setting that up.

Je suis en dernière année, et je suis dans l'obligation de livrer un projet de fin d'étude . Mon encadrant au sein de l'école, me demande de crée un projet Alfresco qui gestion de reunion.
Le problème est là, je n'ai suivi aucune formation Alfresco et l'encadrant ne peut pas m'aider puisqu'il n'a aucune notion sur cet outil là. Je demande est ce que quelqu'un peut me donné une idée de ce dont j'ai besoin comme outil et comment puis-je procéder pour aboutir à un bon projet.

We have a 4.2f working and we can use the edit online on any browser. But one little thing we can only edit online (with sharepoint) docuemts on sites document librarys .
In our case the share point protocol works out of the box no configs needed
