alfresco 3.4.d did not start after reboot

hello guys
I had been using alfresco 3.4.d , everything went well on the installation process and having no problem logging in but when i restarted my computer alfresco won't start anymore and i learned that i had to delete catalina.pid and start alfresco manually. Anyone knows the solution?

Hey like0537, is what you're really asking "hey what's the deal, why do I have to delete catalina.pid after I restart my computer in order for Alfresco to start up?"

If so - it sounds like you did not shut down Alfresco before shutting down your computer. Catalina.pid is the lock file that tomcat (the servlet container that runs Alfresco) uses to make sure that only one instance starts up at a time. Tomcat deletes this file when you use the script to shut down Alfresco, but if you just shut down your computer without shutting down Alfresco first, the file sticks around. So when your computer starts back up, tomcat thinks Alfresco is already running.

Solution: use the script to shut down Alfresco before you restart your computer. I'm guessing you have a PC - I don't know how to make Windows do this automatically for you, but I'm sure there's a way. If your computer is Linux, here's a simple blog post about chkconfig.

If a machine go down accidentally when it restarts, alfresco doesn't work.
