Alfresco 2.0 Tomcat on Mac OS X 10.4 PPC w/ MySQL

I successfully configured and ran Alfresco 2.0 based on the instructions at http://www.afp548.com/article.php?story=20060103145453438

This worked. Then, I wanted to use MySQL instead. So, I read the instructions for MySQL.

I tested mysql to be working

I put mysql-connector-java-5.0.5-bin.jar in
/opt/alfresco/tomcat/common/lib/
even though 5.0.3 was already there.

I created the database using '
mysql -u root -p <db_setup.sql
' and verified the database was working.

I then renamed the three files to:
x-custom-db-and-data-context.xml
x-custom-db-connection.properties
x-custom-hibernate-dialect.properties

I then stopped and started alfresco and the response through a browser is:

HTTP Status 404 - /alfresco/

type Status report

message /alfresco/

description The requested resource (/alfresco/) is not available.
Apache Tomcat/5.5.20

This stuff is straight out of the install instructions. Did I screw up or are the install instructions wrong?

Ok, it seems that the instructions to delete 3 files in README_mysql.txt is incorrect.

What I did was amend those 3 files to my MySQL configuration.

After doing that, redid the database from scratch and deleted the alf_data directory. It was also important to check in Now my installation is working using MySQL. Next step, I will move that alf_data directory somewhere else. It was also necessary to
ps -aux
and kill any remaining java processes. These tend to conflict if you are making changes.
