Advanced Search by type > subtype

What complexity would be required to customize the advanced search page to show only some certain parent types, and then allow for their subtypes to be selected. The metadata would then display for that subtype.

The problem is that we have too many types appearing under advanced search making it less useful. We are using empty types with subtypes for organization, but out of the box this is only useful for changing types and not for advanced search.

Hi,

I'm not sure I totally get your requirement.
If what you need is an option to choose the type you want to search for and, depending on that type, display different searchable metadata, it actually is pretty easy to do:
