Adding new tabs to 'properties'

Following this tutorial I was able to create my own shape with custom properties. Now I have two questions: first, is it possible to make the property a dropdown list and not a text field (I think I've read somewhere that it is not possible as of yet, but I want to be sure) and second is it possible to add additional tabs in the properties tab (something like the "main" tab shown in the attached picture)?

Mady,

you're right, at the moment we don't support dropdown lists. This could be added, but I'm interested how you would like to use them - do you want to specify a static list of string values or do you want them to be looked up elsewhere (dynamic)? The first option I could see making a release sometime soon, but the second is a lot more complicated and I even doubt whether it's worth providing since configuration in your custom node could easily become rather complex.

As far as the tabs go, no, everything ends up in the main tab. We don't plan to enable splitting of these tabs. Would you like to put all of the fields in your own tab or would you like to divide different fields for the same node into separate tabs?

Thanks for the reply. As for the dropdown list - having both possibilities (static list and a dynamic one) would be great, but I think I could get away with having only the static one.

About the tabs - I'd want to divide different fields between the main tab and my own custom tabs, that would be perfect. I was wondering, as this is an ecplise plugin, would it be possible to write my own plugin extending Activiti which would add this functionality, and if so would it be ok to do so license wise, but I'll look into it myself. Thanks again.

Mady,

I'll look into static dropdowns for the next release - otherwise the release after that (1st of jan or 1st of feb)

Sure, you can write your own eclipse plugins surrounding ours. I'm not sure it'll be easy to hook in your own property tabs and make sure the properties get persisted with the diagram.
