Add External Users, failure

When I create a site, and try to add an external user, entering a new first/last/email and setting a role, there is a failure and no invitations are sent out. When using an email address of a user in the system, there is success.

I am not using any external user store.

Is this a problem since there is no self registration?

I am having the same problem, have you found a solution or why this is happening?

Is there anything in the alfresco.log file, e.g. your e-mail server rejecting the address?
