Add custom meta-data, how to?

I wanted to add custom meta-data to my files.

Title: test title
Author: xyz
Creator: admin

Id No: 213sd33s
Metadata1: alpha
Metadata2: beta
..
…
…

All the bold part is the custom part I want to add just like the Versionable option. That is if Versionable selected we see more meta data along with the file details.

Please let me know how to go abt this customization on the alfresco end.
Is there any configuration file changes reqd?

Please see http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Data_Dictionary_Guide for guidance on to specify your own aspect.  Also, there are links on that page that describe how to expose the aspect in the web client (i.e. show the aspect in the "Add Aspect" Rule, show the aspect properties).
