I use Ubuntu in a lot of activities but I am not a programmer and am totally new to Activiti having just discovered it exists.

However, this process you are developing seems like it would be an awesome new Ubuntu JuJu Charm if you've been following JuJu's development by Canonical.
https://juju.ubuntu.com/

and there is an upcoming JuJu Charm School Webinar March 8th being provided by Canonical.

An Activiti JuJu Charm should be easy to create from what I've seen of the Charm development process it should be fairly easy for someone
who understands the ubuntu system commands (apt-get etc.) and the charm syntax.

There is already a huge Charm repository of great Applications that you can deploy using JuJu very quickly on ubuntu.

Search Youtube for "ubuntu juju charm" and you will see several great videos on this topic.

I followed the "Actviti on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS" with an Ubuntu 10.04 KVM instance but I downloaded and used Activiti 5.8.

After the install I could only access the activiti-explorer?

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why I couldn't access Modeler etc.

Solution -
As of Activiti v5.7 they removed the other 4 "tools" which now appear in other software vendor products.
There was  a readme type file in one of the Activiti 5.8 directories that I finally noticed and
it stated that only the explorer module remained.

So all I did was create a new KVM VM with ubuntu 10.04, followed the guide again and this time downloaded and installed version 5.6 which still had all 5 modules.   Everything works now

Hi all,

I created a topic two weeks ago similar to this one (http://forums.activiti.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=456).

I have also an issue with installing activiti in an existing tomcat environment. I have a fresh ubuntu 10.10 server, install tomcat with apache2 at installation routine, install java libraries und export the $JAVA_HOME variable. I tried to use mysql as default database and customize the build.properties and also the build.xml itself. In the demo.setup target I delete the targets tomcat.install. The installation went fine, and the activiti packages are deployt to /etc/tomcat6/webapps. But if I try to call localhost:8080/activiti-cycle or any other activiti package I just get an tomcat error messge, that the resource isn't available. And I still have trouble with getting activit running…. ;(

@Winko:Maybe this is an aspect you can consider?

Regards
Ben
