Activiti Engine without internal table

Is it mandatory to create Activiti internal tables. I don't want to use that. Please suggest.

Actually objective behind is I want to run workflow and want to use my own tables at place of Activiti Tables

How do you mean? How would this work?

Activiti needs a relational database and expects a certain schema, nothing to do about that.

In v6, persistence is pluggable. But that will take quite some work.
