We are evaluating BPM 2 product for our production system. We are looking at Activiti 5.9 as an alternative to jBPM 5.x. Not sure if Activiti 5.9 is production ready.

Care to elaborate why you think this?

Well it is a question, not an opinion. Sorry if it sounded that way.

Are you specifically looking at 5.9 or do you want the latest version (5.10).
A short answer to your question is yes the Activiti Engine is production ready, it's used by quite a lot organizations in production already.

To add a little back ground. Some of our projects are using jBPM 5 and teams are not happy with it. Although Drools Engine is fine, they think jBPM is not matured enough for a production system(critical bugs & tools are the pains they mentioned). They adviced using a Commercial product. But I am exploring Acitiviti and I am liking it so far.

In that context I wanted to hear from users about their production experience.

As an open source framework, we have a very hard time to 'know' which companies are using Activiti. Most companies don't bother to tell us, basically.

If you are able to come, attend the Activiti day (http://activiti.org/activiti-day.html). There will be 4 slots with real companies with real Activiti use cases!

If it's commercial support incl. QA etc. you seek, have a look at camunda fox: http://www.camunda.com/fox

It's based on Activiti, and there are already several companies using it in production, e.g. http://www.camunda.com/fox/product/references/

best regards
