I Installed Alfresco on CentOS 5.0. I selected all defaults which includes tomcat localhost:8080, derby database, opt/Alfresco, I am trying to access alfresco from another computer and it doesnot work. I try http://localhost:8080/share it works.
Setup:
servername: alfresco.test.com
OS: CentOS 5.0
Alfresco: 3.0
I changed the tomcat server.xml to name for engine and host to have "alfresco.test.com".
It doesnot work from outside.
I can still connect to it from the same server with http://alfresco.test.com:8080/share

That helped. I actually went through the server installation guide. This guide is really helpful as a cheat sheet. I added the port 8080 in the other ports list of security level configuration window (System=>Administration=>Security Level and Firewall) and I am back in business. Thanks Mike
