Welcome back to the “best practices for using Connect” blog series! So far, we’ve investigated how to maximize new features, explored the value of engagement, and took a deep dive into Connect’s forums.

Now, it’s time to find out how the top users make the most of Connect. Ever wondered how some folks can squeeze the most out of the platform — like one of those massive powerlifters at the gym moving the equivalent of a dump truck with ease?

Here are the top three tips to help you become a Connect power user too!

1. Power up your connection: Subscribe to content at distinct levels

One of the key benefits of Connect is the ability to quickly find the information you need. Why not speed the process and have the platform deliver those valuable conversations right to you?

Connect offers the ability to get email updates when someone publishes new content in any area you’re interested in by subscribing at different levels:

  • Boards
  • Forums
  • Specific forum posts
  • Blogs
  • Specific blog posts

Just navigate to the right-hand side of the page to Options and click Subscribe.

To view and manage your subscriptions, go to My Settings > Subscriptions & Notifications > My Subscriptions.

2. Power up your search: Search for specific replies

When you search for information on Connect, it generates a link to the root post, not the specific reply that might contain the content you’re looking for.

By clicking on Advanced and changing View results by to Specific posts, it changes the parameters. This way, when you click on the search result, if it’s a reply with the content you’re looking for, clicking will take you directly to that reply.

3. Power up the forums: Help others find accepted answers

As I mentioned in part three, the forums are where users ask questions and get answers. The forums are a great place to engage with colleagues from the same industry, innovative peers, or Hyland experts.

A great power-user tip is to hit “Accept as answer” to let others know it successfully answers the question. That helps everyone find the information they need quicker!

See you soon

That’s it for now! I hope you’ve enjoyed this powerful series.

Don’t worry, as we continue to improve Connect, we’ll be sharing more tips and tricks on how to get the most out of the platform.

If you have any tips you’d like to share, please leave a comment! Thanks!
