When we introduced Hyland Agentic GL Coding earlier this year, the goal was simple: help accounts payable teams eliminate one of the most time-consuming and error-prone tasks in invoice processing by providing AI-driven GL coding recommendations directly within AP workflows. To refresh your memory, this solution analyzes historical coding patterns to recommend the most likely GL accounts, helping organizations process non-PO invoices faster while improving consistency and control.

Since then, we've continued to invest in the solution with new capabilities designed to expand ERP compatibility, improve coding accuracy, and further reduce the manual effort required to process invoices.

More Organizations Can Now Benefit from Agentic GL Coding

One of the biggest enhancements delivered is expanded ERP support.

In June, Hyland added support for Oracle JD Edwards, allowing organizations running JDE to take advantage of AI-generated GL coding recommendations and write validated coding results directly back to their ERP environment.

In September, support was extended again with the addition of Workday integration, enabling Workday customers to leverage the same AI-powered GL coding capabilities within their AP processes.

These additions expand the value of Agentic GL Coding across a broader range of ERP environments while maintaining a consistent user experience and governance model.

With these new capabilities, customers should expect:

  • Accelerated AP automation regardless of ERP platform
  • Reduced manual coding effort for non-PO invoices
  • Preserved financial controls and audit processes
  • A more consistent AP experience across the organization

Better Visibility Leads to Better Coding Decisions

AI recommendations are only valuable if users trust them.

To help processors make faster and more informed decisions, Hyland enhanced the Top 3 GL Account Prediction experience. Recommended accounts now display both the account number and account description, providing additional context directly within the coding form.

Instead of validating recommendations through separate ERP lookups or reference materials, users can evaluate coding options immediately and confidently. These capabilities will help customers realize the following:

  • Faster validation of AI recommendations
  • Reduced need for manual account lookups
  • Greater confidence in coding decisions
  • Improved coding consistency across teams

Keeping Users in Flow

Even small interruptions add up when AP teams process hundreds or thousands of invoices, especially if users have to constantly switch between screens and applications.

The September release introduced workflow improvements that keep users on the GL Coding form when selecting Save or Apply GL Coding. Rather than navigating away from the coding experience, users can continue processing invoices with fewer clicks and less disruption.

This enhancement helps create a smoother coding workflow and eliminates unnecessary task switching, which should all lead to:

  • Increased processor productivity
  • Fewer workflow interruptions
  • Faster invoice throughput
  • Improved user experience

Advancing Toward Touchless Invoice Processing

Another major enhancement helps reduce the work required to create and code invoice line items.

Organizations using Brainware can now generate a line item for the full invoice amount with a single action based on captured invoice data.

Additional enhancements allow freight and other charges captured at the invoice header level to be converted directly into invoice line items when invoices are received in OnBase.

Together, these capabilities remove manual data entry steps and help finance teams process invoices more efficiently. Customers should also expect these benefits:

  • Reduced manual invoice preparation
  • Faster invoice coding and review
  • Improved processing consistency
  • Greater straight-through processing potential

Better Accuracy for Tax Allocation

Accurately allocating tax across invoice line items can be tedious and prone to rounding issues.

With the latest release, captured tax amounts can now be automatically prorated across invoice line items. The enhancement ensures that prorated totals remain aligned with the original captured tax amount while minimizing discrepancies caused by rounding.

By automating this task, organizations can improve accuracy while removing another manual step from the AP process all leading to:

  • Improved financial accuracy
  • Reduced manual calculations
  • Fewer coding corrections and exceptions
  • Greater confidence in invoice data integrity

Continuing the Journey Toward Intelligent AP

The latest enhancements to Hyland Agentic GL Coding build on the foundation introduced earlier this year: AI-powered recommendations that help finance teams code non-PO invoices faster, more accurately, and with greater consistency.

By expanding ERP support, improving prediction usability, automating additional invoice processing tasks, and increasing coding accuracy, Hyland continues to help organizations eliminate manual work and accelerate AP modernization.

As finance teams look for practical ways to increase efficiency and prepare for increasingly intelligent operations, Agentic GL Coding delivers measurable value today while helping create a foundation for broader AI-driven process automation tomorrow.
