How to view metadata of archived document versions in 5.6?

Nuxeo 5.6 regression NXP-9998 appears to prevent archived document metadata from being viewed. The work-around described in the JIRA does not seem to be applicable for archived document versions. Is there another work-around for archived documents? If not, please consider raising the severity level of this regression.

This issue is a problem for the default application, but you can easily add a widget to the default summary, see http://doc.nuxeo.com/x/xoCo
