I play with Nuxeo Platform very often on OSX (Lion to be precise) and the DAM module is slow if I play with large image file, I guess because ImageMagick is not installed by default on OSX.
What's the easiest way to install Image Magic on OSX? Macport kind of s***
Thanks in advance!

Did you try HomeBrew kind of gold 😄
/usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.github.com/gist/323731)";
That's it, for installation and next
brew install imagemagick
Fast, Easy...
I want to thanks Thomas for introducing me to brew, my mum for her patience, my wife always with me, ... And I would like the peace on earth.

and some more unsolicited input - if you are using DAM with big TIF assets then make sure you're running the latest and greatest version of ImageMagick. It make be the format or the TIF options but when I upgraded from the version that installs with 5.5 to the latest version all my TIF troubles evaporated.

Is it possible to create a NXP task with the image attached and a description of your trouble ? We will update the Windows distribution to push the last version of imagemagick.
