As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering secure, high-performance solutions, we will be transitioning the operating system of our Nuxeo Platform LTS 2021 Nuxeo server distributed docker image from CentOS 7 to Oracle Linux 7.
This upgrade applies exclusively to clients using our Nuxeo Platform LTS 2021 Nuxeo server docker image distributed through Nexus. If you are utilizing other forms of distribution or have already upgraded to Nuxeo Platform LTS 2023, you will not be affected by these changes.
The upgrade will be included in the Hotfix 54 docker image release for Nuxeo Platform LTS 2021, scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
This image will have an Oracle Linux 7 operating system. This change is transparent for a standard Nuxeo Platform LTS 2021 server image, so the upgrade will proceed without disruption.

- Nuxeo Cloud customers:
- Hyland’s Cloud team will handle all necessary configuration changes for these customers and help ensure a smooth transition. Customer service will continue seamlessly until the Nuxeo Platform LTS 2021 end-of-life (EOL).
- Self-managed customers:
- Nuxeo Platform LTS 2023: The Nuxeo Server LTS 2023 version is not affected by these changes, and an upgrade to Nuxeo Platform LTS 2023 is the recommended best course of action. The upgrade process from Nuxeo Platform LTS 2021 to Nuxeo Platform LTS 2023 is largely streamlined from previous versions.
- Review and upgrade: For customers who choose to continue on Nuxeo Platform LTS 2021 docker image distribution, particularly those who have significantly customized the standard docker image, we recommend you review the upcoming changes. A test image is available to ensure compatibility and to facilitate a smooth transition. The image can be accessed using the command line input:

- Oracle Linux 7 maintenance and extended maintenance purchase: Oracle will continue to provide maintenance for Oracle Linux 7 until Sunday, December 1, 2024. Self-managed customers who have not transitioned to Nuxeo Platform LTS 2023 before this date are advised to secure extended maintenance from Oracle. This ensures full support between the official end-of-maintenance for Oracle Linux 7 and the end-of-maintenance period for Nuxeo Platform LTS 2021.
- CentOS EOL: Please note that CentOS will be officially out of maintenance on Sunday, June 30, 2024. It is strongly recommended that our Nuxeo Platform customers move away from CentOS to ensure the continued security of their instance.
