A FTP server allows a network scanner to scan PDFs into that folder.
Can Alfresco Content Service server watch a particular folder for new files and automatically import and OCR these?
Ideally those new files would be shown in a different folder/step so someone can add some keywords/title/context to the scanned OCR'ed PDF for evern easier later retrieval.

Hi,
You can map Alfresco FTP and place your all files in that ftp mapped folder so it will automatically comes in alfresco.

Thanks for the anwer!
This is great, but what if I already have a FTP server (FileZilla FTP) running that saves the inbound files into a folder, that is on the same local file system as Alfresco runs. Can Alfresco still watch that local folder?

You can try that scenario and check will it work or not.
I have not tried that type of scenarion.
Alternate way is there where you can map network drive with your alfresco and place your files within custom folder and use that.

But mapping a network drive would not support file system notifications, right?
I run Alfresco Community Edition as a docker container (it runs really well), with the directory mounted into the container.
