xpath/lucene

I came to know that alfresco uses lucene for searching the content.which one does it uses for searching with in the content Lucene/xpath.

can i get some stuff to look at how search happens for content and with in the content.

Lucene is used to index meta-data about the content (e.g. Name of a file) and also the full-text of the content.
