windows 7 / IE 8 supported?

has anyone got aflresco to work with windows 7 / IE 8? I've tested with windows 7 and it did not work until i changed the network settings to accept 40 and 56-bit encryption. i could not get IE 8 to work. i'm running alfresco version 2.2, do i have to upgrade to version +3.0? if alfresco does not currently support this stack, is there a plan to?

As far as I'm aware, there are no plans to support versions prior to v3.x on Windows 2008 / Windows 7.

There shouldn't be any problems with IE8 - you may need to force it into IE7 compatibility mode.

We are planning to upgrade to IE8 and as you said "you may need to force it into IE7 compatibility mode" . 

Can you please tell me what is that behavior or what is the circumstances under which I may have to make it IE7 mode?

If you're using Share it shouldn't be a problem - in fact we've added a metadata header to make sure IE8 is kept *out of* IE7 compatibility mode.
