Windows 7 / CIFS access

Hi all

We've been having some trouble accessing CIFS from a Windows 7 client (we're running Alfresco on Windows Server 2008), so far we've been testing with XP clients and have no issue, but on a 7 client we're unable to get a connection. Just continually prompted for credentials.

Does there have to be any specific setting in place to get CIFS to work?

Thanks,
Ben.

If using windows authentication you need to make Windows7 use NLTMv1.    It will try to use NTLMV2 out of the box.

Hi mrrogers,

We actually did manage some success with this, applied a registry key "LmCompatibilityLevel" DWORD = 1 (hex) in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa and we're now able to map a drive. I've read that NTLMv2 can't be used because of it's tendancy to try and block "man in the middle" style attacks, which is how it perceives Alfresco CIFS?
