Hi everyone,

This question in mainly to the developers of alfresco. Will the open source version have a customer portal?

This is an essential request because its a very important feature of a free open source CMS.

Why should we use a different portal when we have a great tool in our hands but we cannot use it?

Best regards

To be honest I dont understand the question.  A customer portal?  What is your idea for this?  Or what is it like in other products you have seen?

Hi,

Do you mean a portal to be something other than a Wiki, Forums and Jira bug tracking?

It sounds like a feature request to me not a community tool.

The alfresco repository is just a repository. It's not any kind of app that might consume on top of a repository.

The web client is a little bit of a strange guy.  It is kind of a management console, kind of a end user application for creating and managing content.

you can create any kind of app you want on top of alfresco.  for one you can define your own level II model if the current one does not suite.

A portal can easily sit on top of alfresco.  many portals today are looking to support the JCR spec.  alfresco will fit nicely in to this space.

I confess I still do not know what you mean when you say Customer Portal.
