    The 4.0 documentation says… in

Alfresco Documentation > Using Alfresco > Using Alfresco Share > The wiki


"You can contribute and modify content using a simplified markup language."

This forum entry from 2009

indicates that the simpliefied markup language is a combination of WIKI and HTML

This page http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/AlfrescoWiki_Guidelines
from 2008 indicates that media wiki format is supported.

But all attempts to enter this wiki text in a page without using the WYSIWYG editor buttons fail.

How is the Wiki Markup Language supposed to work?

That wiki page from 2008 pre-dates Share - i.e. it's referring to the wiki.alfresco.com wiki itself.

The Share wiki is currently HTML. The only exception is internal wiki page links use the [[page title]] syntax.
