Wiki: 'Alfresco on Eclipse' self-contradicting?

Install STS (Spring Tool Suite):
Remark: DO NOT install the sysdeo plugin for tomcat, it does not work properly and is NOT needed in STS.
…and two paragraphs below that there is  Install the Sysdeo Eclipse Tomcat Launcher plugin.
Which of those two apply?

Also the SWFTools section is kinda confusing (well, to me at least)…
The very first sentence says I should install swftools, and add the installation dir to PATH. After that is says I should first install some other stuff.
It also looks like it is meant only for UNIX users.

Sorry if these are stupid questions.

No they are not stupid questions.   I've never heard of  or used those tools.

I need to run (modify, debug) Alfresco in Eclipse. I tried two recipes I found in forum but was not able to make it work. So I went after some official how-to, and this is what I've found.

It's not "official documentation",  what you are looking at is the community wiki.   If that guidance is not good or correct then we (you and I and the community) should fix it.

Incidentally I used that page to get started on Alfresco myself…

What's your problem?

It is not clear to me where to obtain the required files from when building Alfresco from SVN. Do I have to install Alfresco first?
