why to go for deploy?

If i need to move the files from one system to another then only i need deploy feature? consider in production im going to use only one box, there i will install aflresco(tomcat) and apachewebserver.

if i create xml/html/jsp files and i submit then it is getting reflected automatically in the avm repository, so in that case what is the need for deploy feature? i can map avm using cifs to a drive and from there i can able to server the files, right?

The production url will be accessed globally and if anyone submits the xml files and submit(not deploy) , i hope it will get reflected immediately in the avm repository.

The deploy feature is used to push content from one Alfresco to another Alfresco server, or to push content from Alfresco to a remote file-system.  This second option is usefulness for a number of reasons, including support for pushing static HTML sites to a remote file server to be served via Apache or pushing code to a remote file server to be accessed and executing by the run-time environment of your choice without having to serve directly off of Alfresco's CIFS interface (which is always going to be slower than a native FS).

The file-system deployment is now available with our updated 2.1.0 Community release.  Have a look!

Ok,Pushing the content from alfresco to a remote file system, that means i can able to move the files to my desired location/folder in the remote system? ? ie.) i need to move the files to the apache web server's directory. How do i provide the path for this in "Deploy to" field.?

i specified only the ipaddress then the contents are deployed only in the remote machine avm store.

The Deploy To field allows you to specify a server name or IP address to deploy to a remote Alfresco server.  To deploy to a remote file server receiver (a server not running Alfresco), you need to specify a UNC path.  The 'Help' icon next to the Deploy To field provides useful instructions here.

To download and install the RFS receiver, you can fetch the deployment ZIP file, install scripts, and README from SourceForge in the WCM section here:

Unfortunately I'm also getting this problem…

I've configured the deployment receiver to use an RMI port of 54321 and it seems to start up alright.

I've configured my web project to use the following:
Deploy To: localhost:54321
