Which file contains email/smtp configuration

Sorry if this is a stupid questions, but I found the instructions for starting the email function in the wiki http://docs.alfresco.com/3.4/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.alfresco.Enterprise_3_4_0.doc%2Fconcepts%2Fmaste..., but I couldn't any mention about in which file this setting are found.

If someone could point this way, I would greatly appreciate it.

It looks like there is nothing in the alfresco-global.properties files for outbound and inbound email. But the sample file does contain those things. So, I guess I'm supposed to copy the examples from the sample file and paste them in the other file and remove the comments #.

Does alfresco have its own smtp server, or do I need to setup an account of the company email server for it?

The alfresco SMTP server is rather odd.   In that its not a MTA,  but allows content to be added to the repo via SMTP.
