Where does Alfresco store persistent data?

If I don't integrate MySQL - as told in the installation documents - with Alfresco, where does it store the persistent data.

I had downloaded Alfresco-Enterprise-tomcat-trial bundle, extracted it and started using Alfresco, without any configurations. It is working fine, but I wonder where does it store its persistent data.

Your enterprise trial has probably installed a database.
