What is the Importance of .WAR file

Hi,

I am new to Alfresco as well as JAVA.We are trying to create custom web forms and want preview the same in "Preview Website".

Do we need to import  a .war file for the same?

You need only to configure and run the virtual tomcat that you find in the Alfresco WCM bundle.
