What for development environment do I need?

I'm new to alfresco but I want to start developing an adobe AIR application for the alfresco php api. I want to develop a document management application for use with the an repository. Does anybody know what I need for that? (besides flex builder for the air application)

An alfresco (SVN) repository perhaps? with php support?
