Hello
I have a problem with Alfresco's search and can't find references to it in this forum.
This is the problem: installing alf. 3.0 stable with Mysql and after add a few files (.pdf, .doc etc) with it's metadata, when try a search over this files selecting "all items" option it just return matches in the title or free text, but not the metadata fields. (description, etc). You can do it only trough "advanced search" and in the specific field.
Is this a known problem? Can it be fixed?
This happen to me in more than one install and with the default settings (plus MySql)

Thank you in advance for any comment.

Regards,
Jorge

I believe this is the default behavior for the "quick search" field. In this case, "All Items" means "file names, space names, and content" as opposed to just file names, just space names, or just full-text content. If you wanted to add a new option to the list that would include "All metadata" you could do that through a UI customization. The Lucene keyword to search all indexed properties is ALL. So if you wanted to find any document with any indexed property equal to "apple" your Lucene query would be ALL:"apple".

I agree that the phrase "All items" is misleading and that an "All metadata" option would be helpful.

See http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Category:Web_Client_Customization

There you should find the information how to add the additional properties to the simple search.
