Webdav upload creates 2 files and gives error on dir read

I have installed Alfresco community on centos. when I use a webdav client to upload a file it makes 2 copies, one the original and one with a  ._filename. after the file is uploaded I try to just browse with browser @ alfresco/webdav and I get an error "An error occurred whilst generating the directory listing, please contact the system administrator." but I can still use alfresco's webclient to read the dir fine without error.

Has anyone had this issue before?

There is a known bug with WebDav PUT on 1.4 - it is fixed in 1.4E and on the latest HEAD code from SVN - if you don't have 1.4E you will be able to get the fix in the next version or from the source code in SVN.
