Does Alfresco provide full-text searching of pptx/docx/xlsx formats?
Also, any issues with Vista?

Support for indexing those formats will appear in Alfresco as they are added to OpenOffice Smiley Happy

I haven't tried Alfresco on Vista - please let us know how you get on!

Thanks,

Kevin

I haven't spent a lot of time on my one Vista box, but I do know that it has issues i.e. doesn't work out of the box, when trying to use CIFS/SAMBA and Alfresco - whereas our XP and Linux desktops have no trouble at all.

Hi,

We currently have not tested Alfresco on Vista, we have that scheduled for sometime in the next few months.

Some observations on a Vista Home Premium machine:
1. Alfresco server seems to work properly
2. with 2.0 version, also Portable Open Office installs correctly
3. CIFS does not seems to work - or with a lot of delay, and after some time crashing the Windows Explorer

Would be nice to have this solved. Vista brings some improvements and gives us faster web client operations.

Hi,
I tried to make text search for .docx content, but it did not show any result, but when I tried text search for .doc content, then it works.
so I am not sure if Alfresco 2.9 support .docx
did any one try this before?

Thanks.

I hope your french is not too bad  Smiley Very Happy but:

Derrière la décor, OpenOffice.org 3.0 supportera le futur standard OpenDocument Format (ODF) 1.2 et est capable d'ouvrir des fichiers créés  avec MS-Office 2007 ou MS-Office 2008 pour Mac OS X (.docx, .xlsx,.pptx, etc.) En plus bien sûr de la lecture et de l'écrture pour les formats de fichiers binaires MS-Office (.doc, .xls .ppt, etc.).

IT says that Open Office 3.0 will support docx, and thus text searchability can be added.
