Ok the problem is that one of the HR personal tried to upload 30 documents at once into alfresco share 3.4a . This crashed the alfresco webap .http://***.*.***.**:8080/share/page/site-index .
The general solution to alfresco crashes is to stop and restart services. That is what we did .
We stoped alfresco and then deleted the catalina.pid file and then restarted alfresco . We get the login page but cant login. On trying to log in we get the error " the remote server may be unavailable or your authentication ….." .
The alfresco share is on a linux machine . The machine also gets restarted every morning.
