Unable to send Site Invites

Interesting & maddening problem.

Alfresco Community 3.4c running on Ubuntu 10.10

The installation has been running for months, and has been fairly cooperative and stable.

Recently, it has refused to send out site invites. The notification comes up a few seconds after pressing Invite, "0 Invites sent 1 Failures". It doesn't seem to matter if it's a new user or one that has been in the system for awhile.

It continues, however, to send out email alerts that are attached to rules on folders.

Alfresco is configured to relay email off my remote Exchange Server. I have control of the server, and haven't made any changes. It has been doing this successfully, as I said, for months.

The alfresco.log indicates that the outbound mail is running - the alerts being sent attest to that.

Below is the error message from my catalina.out file. I'm getting nowhere by searching on the various error messages. Any help would be appreciated.

I would tend to agree with you, except for the fact that email alerts are getting through just fine. Is there something different about the alerts that they would be seen differently by Exchange?

I have tried logging in as the user who is able to generate email alerts from a rule on a folder, but am not able to send invites with that account either.

I have gone through the relay settings of the SMTP server that relay's the email from my Alfresco installation, as have the technicians at the hosting company where it's located. All settings on that server are correct, and haven't changed since the Alfresco server was established.

Since email alerts triggered by rules on Document Library folders continue to be sent, I can only assume that the problem lies somewhere in Alfresco, but have no idea where to start looking.

Any help would be appreciated.

The new algorithm interpreted an invite as SPAM and rejected it, while allowing the email alerts to relay.

Dialing the level of filtering back, allowed the invites to be relayed. How much extra SPAM allowed through the filter is to be seen.
