Two problems with default 4.2.b installlation

I've installed Alfresco 4.2.b on an Ubuntu 11.10 server and made no customizations.
It it is running fine, but there are two problems: one that shows up in a log file and one that shows up in the system CPU usage.

Every 15 seconds, there are about 26 to 30 messages similar to the following written to   /opt/alfresco-4.2.b/tomcat/logs/localhost_access_log.2012-11-05.txt:

127.0.0.1 - CN=Alfresco Repository Client, OU=Unknown, O=Alfresco Software Ltd., L=Maidenhead, ST=UK, C=GB [05/Nov/2012:10:17:00 -0700] "GET /alfresco/service/api/solr/aclchangesets?fromTime=1352135346466&toTime=1352142546466&maxResults=2000 HTTP/1.1" 200 127

The second problem is that after the tomcat server is started and finished initializing and is running idle, it consumes about 1% of the CPU - which seems normal. However, as soon as I log into Alfresco Share, the CPU usage jumps to 10% and stays there until I shut the server down. Logging out of the server and closing the web page has no effect on the CPU usage - it's still at 10%.

Is anyone else seeing these problems or know how to resolve them?

Hi!

You will see this logs when you have enabled the AccessLogValve in Tomcat (which seems to be default now). What you see in the log is when Solr talks to Alfresco. Since the HTTP status is 200, it seems to be ok.
Here is a description on how to configure the AccessLogValve in server.xml:
