I got 3.2 community edition installed, including the sharepoint libraries.  I was going through the tutorial in the documentation and successfully created the workspace and published the test document from within Word2007. I verified this by logging into Share and checking that the document workspace and file existed.  But when I open Word again and follow the instructions for opening a document form the workspace I get prompted for the user login and password and then get the following error:

"The Internet address 'http://<server name>:7070/alfresco' is not valid."

Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Your error sounds a bit weird, since creating space, file and opening it all use the same adress schema.

Can you still access the connection in the "network spaces" Listing via Windows explorer? There should be a webdav-entry now, after you used it for the first time.  If so, can you double click on the file in windows explorer to open it ?

If not, your name resolution maybe bogged down. can you still create stuff ?

I'm not finding a connection to the workspace in explorer anywhere.  When I try to add a new network location and give it the address  I get the following error:
"The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another."  I may be going about trying to get the listing in explorer wrong, it's been a while since I've tried to do anything using WebDav.  I tried this both on my Vistax64 and Xp 32-bit machines.  I did try using both the host name and the IP number.

The funny thing is, if I open word and choose a document on the workspace from my "Recent Files" list it prompts me for name and password and then successfully connects and opens the document.  It just doesn't like it when I choose open and then enter "http://<servername>:7070/alfresco" in the open file dialog.

Hmm …
"Windows Explorer -> My Computer -> My Network places " should list the webdav folders. You might have to reenable webdav on your computer. You can do that with some MSI file in c:\windows\system32\webfldrs.msi

did anyone found solution to this problem? I have same story, followed tutorial point-by-point 3 times already 😃
Reinstalled Alfresco 2 times…no luck..

Update:

All works fine under Windows XP SP3, but this is not an option. All machines here run Vista =(\

Another Update:

If I try to browse sharepoint server via
http://192.168.1.65:7070/alfresco
I can login, but displayed page says:
