Transferring alf_data and database to a new instance

Hi,

We currently have Alfresco version 4d installed, unfortunately for some reason or another, the search function stopped working (lucene?). What I plan to do is install a new instance and copy alf_data and and make a pg_dump of PostgreSQL database, then transfer both to the new instance. Is the best way? Is there any other way? Is copying the contents of alf_data enough?

Many thanks!

Hi,

I would recommend you first do a full index rebuild by setting the property

index.recovery.mode=FULL

The best way would be to build your alfresco server back from existing ALF_DATA content & DB backup.

Can you post the error encountered by you?

Thanks,

Thanks for the prompt response Sujay!

Before I set index.recovery.mode=FULL, I need to stop Alfresco from running, right? Also, I have read from other blogs that I need to delete the contents of of /alf_data/lucene-indexes and /alf_data/backup-lucene-indexes directories respectively, unfortunately, I can't seem to find the said directories. Both the production server and the test server I am doing this does not have those directories.

Please advise.

I've changed index.recovery.mode from VALIDATE to FULL. Stopped and Re-started Alfresco. Snippet of the logs relevant to Lucene below.

I think you hit the same problem what I had faced 2 weeks before i.e. your SSL certificates used by Alfresco got expired and you need to regenerate it.
