I am unable to preview any type of document in Alfresco Share.  I did a search of the forms and was unable to find any answer that was useful.  Openoffice is installed and running and there are no errors showing up in alfresco.log.  Any help on debugging this issue will be greatly appreciated

From the topic title I assume it's the flash previewer that tells the preview is unavailable? Do thumbnails show up in the document library, or when you hover over items in the document library? (depends on display type)

Did you install additional components, like the SWFTools pdf2swf application?

log4j.logger.org.alfresco.repo.content.transform.ContentTransformerRegistry=DEBUG‍‍

You can add these to your custom-log4j.properties file. It shows all registered transformers and will detail whether it thinks they're working. It'll also show when a transformation is invoked.

hi,
Be sure that you have single alfresco-global.properties wither in web_inf/classes/alfresco or tomcat/shared/classes whicever you are using.

Usually this type of issue happens ,  when image-magick is not currectly configured, ensure that thte path varialbe in "img" in properties file is correctly configured.
eg: #img.root=./ImageMagick

#swf.exe=./bin/pdf2swf

sometimes it is also useful that you should provide full exe path of ur image magick tools.
