Temp folder

Is deletion of temp folder is advisable by Alfresco. If we delete temp folder on  our production server  it throws exception on start up.
Alfresco Enterprise 2.1.1
OS- Solaris.

Please advice

Alfresco needs a temporary folder.    

You can set which folder to use for temporary files by setting java.io.tempdir.   However you can't get by without it.

The path of temp folder is set. Still we get some exceptions on start up. Also is it advisable to delete temp folder .

Alfresco needs the temporary directory, no its not a good idea to try and remove it.

I think you must non only set this path, but also be sure that this path exist, so you must recreate temp dir if you deleted it because Alfresco doesn't create it if it does'nt find it.

I wrote here because I also want to know if there is some problem if I stop Alfresco and then clean temp folder and then restart?
In other way are the files in temp folder really temporary and Alfresco recreate them if necessary, or Alfresco use them in some way and cleaning it is equal to loose something?

If Alfresco is not running then you can clean the alfresco temporary folder without problem.
