Sync Folder & Contents from One Site to Another

Hello, everyone –

I am looking for a way to synchronize a folder within one site's document library to the same folder in another site. Ideally this would just be a link to avoid duplicate documents, but I can see from past posts that this is not currently possible.

For example, when a user adds a file, updates a file or deletes a file in Site 1 - Folder A, that change is also reflected in Site 2 - Folder A.

I have tried to set up a custom rule to accomplish this task, but have found that it doesn't respect the subfolder the file was added or updated in from the source. So, if I add a file to Site 1 - Folder A - SubFolder AB, the file is added to Site 2 - Folder A. Further, it doesn't appear that there is a way to delete files from Site 2 when they're deleted from Site 1.

Does anyone have any suggestions for accomplishing something of this sort? With my previous DM, I simply had a symbolic link between two directories, but that was a file-based system, unlike Alfresco's database system. I desperately need a way to accomplish this behavior. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Have you looked at the Replication Service? It was meant to replicate nodes from one Alfresco server to another. Maybe it would work for the use case you describe, I'm not sure.

Replication is not for site to site transfer.

There are various "links" in alfresco although I don't think Share works with them yet?

How does publication from the Editorial folder to the Live folder in Web Quick Start work? For some reason, I thought it did something similar. In Chris' case, he needs something like this but instead of going folder to folder within the same site, he'd be going across sites.

i have two folders under alfresco share site , i want to create a rule between them in order to deny access to folder "folder2" unless folder "folder1" has 6 files inside and one of them must be named "toto.html" , did you know a feature , plug in or a module which do that.

PS , i used record management module 2.0.1-147 but it has a bug in alfresco community 4.2.c (after creating disposition schedule , complete event does not work) seems to be a common bug. Help please thx

Yes there's a "back door" work around that I used for the unit tests.    QS uses the same work around (Node ref substitution) however that's a separate code path from the "Replication Service".

I think I'd spend time getting links to work since that's what's wanted.
