Hello. I'm trying to setup Alfresco WCM and allow visibility to the staging sandbox outside of my LAN, i.e. to internet users. Is this possible? If not that seems like a pretty big deficiency in Alfresco. It basically eliminates any users outside the LAN to view their changes. Thanks.
Yes of course you can see your staging sandbox. Either through the Explorer client or one of the projections e.g. CIFS or WebDav.
Any restrictions on being able to access alfresco from outside your LAN are features of your network such as your firewall rules rather than being features of alfresco.
Are these external users working on your WCM content ? Or are they members of the public who need to see the results of your content in which case you need to deploy the contents of your staging sandbox to a public facing web site.
Yes I did figure this out eventually. The reason I asked is because all of the documentation says "inside your LAN". This is not our production server but a development/test server and I need people outside of my network to see the staging data. Incidentally I ran into the issue where the virtual server does not work properly unless started up several minutes after the Alfresco server. I spent about 2 hours this morning getting a no webapp found error from Alfresco when trying to preview the website. I don't have a link handy but there were other posts regarding the subject in the forums.
