Space storage limits

Hi

I was wondering if it is currently possible or a future development, to limit the storage capacity of a particular space.

I wish to give users a "Personal" storage area but would like to limit it to 50Mb per user.

I'm from the Catalyst at the University of Washington and we are also VERY interested in the possibility of some sort of quota or store capacity for a space or a user.  I can't find any reference to the in the tutorials or documentation.

I am also interested in quota management.


I think quotas could be managed using what's called in Alfresco "aspect".
Aspect can be seen like the functionnal equivalent of triggers in relational database.  So if a document is added or deleted then the aspect would be triggered and then the size of the document would be substracted or added.  When the quota would be exeeded, an exception could be raised.
If you look ad http://forge.alfresco.com/projects/ext-project/ you can download a document explainig how to create and integrate aspects. I have given a practical example in the source code.

I was also looking for some way to control user filespace somehow.
Your project is very interesting approach to quota management. I'll take a closer look at the doc and get back on that.

Hi,

It is possible to give a user a quota.
This can be accomplished when creating a new user. In the 'New User Wizard' there is a option to place a quota on a user.
U can choose from GB, MB and KB.

It is not possible (as so far, see:http://alfrescoshare.wordpress.com/2009/10/25/alfresco-quota-per-space-roadmap/) to put a limit on a space though.
